I recently returned from the APTA Federal Payment and Policy Forum in Denver where the discussions ran from Dry Needling to National Consortium to Medicare reimbursement and lots more that I will review for you later, but first things first. This month is National Physical Therapy Month, and the APTA just launched its new #AgeWell campaign to increase awareness of all we do in our profession. You can help our national organization spread the word about the importance of physical therapists in healthcare by taking these simple steps:
- Follow MoveForwardPT on your Twitter or Facebook at this link: http://www.moveforwardpt.com/Default.aspx .
- Use the #AgeWell on your social media websites.
- Share APTA digital resources on your own social media sites, such as the “9 Physical Therapist Tips to Help You #AgeWell.” (My personal favorite tip? #9: “You don’t just have to live with bladder leakage.”) Here’s a link where you can download the pdf of PT tips for patient handouts: Click Here
- The APTA recently completed a survey of over 1000 consumers over age 18 about their hopes, fears and perceptions of aging, and will be releasing the results on national media this month. Personalize these results with a good patient story as told by a local expert (YOU!) and pitch it to the local media!
To all the talented, hardworking PTs out there making a difference every day, HAPPY PHYSICAL THERAPY MONTH!!!
