Previous Involvement in APTA or State Chapter/Other Sections:
Since my time in academia, I have supported state efforts with obtaining direct access (via PT Days at the Capitol). I was nominated as a state alternate in Florida. I am a current member of the APTA, with memberships in SoWH, Cardiopulmonary, Education, and Geriatrics.

Personal Statement:
The profession of physical therapy found me…I was given an opportunity to matriculate at FAMU, and in return, I promised Dean Jacqueline Beck to one day return, in hopes to teach and assist others in joining this profession.
I consider myself to be a “life learner”, and according to my mother, this has been true since I started school at the age of 4. Although I’ve earned other credentials, it has always been important to me to advance my knowledge and skills. I am “late” with getting involved, but if you were to ask the admission committee, I clearly stated this interest during my interview in 1992!
I truly believe that each person is given a “gift”, that they are to use in serving of others (1st Peter 4:10). I’m thankful that additional opportunities have come, and continue to come my way, allowing me to do just that…use my gifts. Having been a past president of social and professional organizations, I know that it takes a “team” approach to make any venture/program a success. I believe in collaboration, not competition. I believe that with continued vision, dedication and drive, the Section will grow and advance, not only in number, but also in experts, as well as interest. I’m looking forward to serving in whatever capacity needed.
