Mission of the CAPP committees

  • To standardize post-professional physical therapy training and education in pelvic and obstetrical physical therapy
  • To provide a comprehensive and fundamental education intended to cover extensively those skills and topics that are essential for all PTs practicing in prenatal and postpartum women’s health and pelvic floor rehabilitation
  • To recognize those who have completed the post-professional training

Information for All Pregnancy and Postpartum PT Courses

  • Introductory letter to all Pregnancy and Postpartum PT course participants
  • Mandatory course preparation
    • Required pre-reading: It is necessary to complete all assigned reading before the course.  All pre-reading is available 
    • Bring to the course: Participants are required to download and bring to the course all "Common forms"
    • Lab: Labs are an essential part of the CAPP-OB courses. All participants must fully participate in all labs. There are no internal pelvic floor labs in any of the CAPP-OB courses. Participants may remain fully clothed at all times. Please wear comfortable clothing in order to participate in examination and intervention labs.
  • Description and Summary of All Pregnancy and Postpartum PT Course Levels
  • Evidence Based Practice
    • All CAPP OB PT courses are evidenced based courses, fully referenced with current evidence when available. Intervention studies in the CAPP OB PT course manuals are rated using the Oxford Centre Levels of Evidence giving indications on the power of the study results. Click Here  
  • Course schedule:
    • Friday: 7:30 to 5:00
    • Saturday: 8:00 to 5:00
    • Sunday:    8:00 to 3:00
  • CAPP-OB  testing times (optional):
    • Please plan to be available for any of the following testing times
    • Friday:      5:00 PM to 7:30 PM
    • Saturday: 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, 5:00 PM to 7:30 PM
    • Sunday:    7:00 AM to 8:00 AM
  • Intended audience:
    • All courses are open to physical therapists and physical therapist assistants.
    • PT students in their last year of PT school can attend level 1.

The Journal of the Section on Women's Health is a quarterly publication focused on the clinical interests of physical therapists practicing in women's health as well as those of other health care providers in the practice of women's health.
