Location: Warwick, RI
Instructor: Ann Dunbar, PT, MS, DPT and Linde Nolte Smith, PT,
CEU:2.0hours

This 2 ½-day course is designed to provide a review of common chronic pelvic pain (CPP) diagnoses and will present systematic evaluation techniques and effective intervention options that can be easily integrated into existing or newly established practice patterns. The core concept upon which this course is built is that of mechanical balance and stabilization. Evaluation will include use of a detailed evaluation form, sacroiliac and iliosacral dysfunctions, pelvic girdle/hip joint asymmetries, and abdominal wall assessment. Treatment strategies focus on an integrated approach, including osteopathic muscle energy techniques, scientific evidence for spine stabilization with focus on the pelvic pain population, and therapeutic exercise, such as a pelvic floor program and a multipositional progressive spine stabilization program adapted from Brunkow therapy. The scope of this course does not include internal pelvic floor muscle assessment. Course content is evidence based and is designed for therapists seeking to broaden into women’s health practice and for women’s health physical therapists desiring to sharpen orthopedic skills.
