"Activating the Feminine in Healthcare to Enhance Health and Healing"
by Jo Lynne Robins RN,
PhD, C-ANP, CHTP Download Full Brochure
This 8 hour workshop focuses on exploring the forgotten
feminine aspects of health and healing and to learn how to
incorporate these therapies into practice to create a more
balanced healthcare model for care of ourselves and our
clients. Feminine aspects of health and healing include: a)
creating therapeutic relationship/partnership; b) being fully
present; c) holding sacred space; d) appreciating a holistic
view of individuals (body, mind, spirit); e) recognizing the
body has an innate ability to maintain balance and health; f)
acknowledging intuition and aesthetics as valid ways of
knowing; g) listening; h) nurturing; i) storytelling and j)
honoring life cycles.
Expanding our current model of health care by incorporating
complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) is a sound
and effective way to reintegrate the feminine into healthcare
because the philosophical and theoretical bases of these
therapies includes an emphasis on the feminine aspects of
health and healing. Our ultimate goal is an “integrative” model combining allopathic medicine and CAM. This model
recognizes that masculine (more aggressive intervention,
linear, mechanistic) and feminine aspects are equally
important and necessary in order to provide the best
possible care for complex human issues.
The day will include lecture, discussion, Q&A, storytelling,
experiential learning including therapeutic breathwork,
guided imagery, tai chi, yoga, music therapy, and art
therapy.
Handouts will include power point lecture and an extensive
reference list of peer-reviewed journal articles, books,
audiobooks, video/DVD recordings, organizations.
